I tried to start my truck up after getting it out of storage and it started leaking from the carb. I don't know exactly what carb it is so i don't know what rebuild kit to get. When I bought the truck I was told it was a 650, but I can't find any markings on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
well, I guess you all can let this die off. I called Holley and gave them the numbers I found on it and They say it's a 4160 model which is 450 cfm and the kit i'm looking for is 3-119
I've got this same carb and rebuilt mine about 5 months ago, there's a ton of info on the internet giving step by step instructions, I actually set up a large folding table, pulled the carb and used my laptop to help me go through the process.
The tube that is leaking transfers gas from the front primary bowl to the rear secondary bowl and just presses into the hole with a rubber gasket that fits over the tube, if the leak is your only problem you could pull the four screws out of the primary bowl and replace the gaskets on each end of the tube and on the bowl and put it back together without ever removing the carb.
They say you can use the instructions from the Holley rebuild kit but they basically gave an exploded view of the carb and said "disassemble, clean and reassemble in reverse order".
I thought all the 4160's are 650 cfm with vacuum actuated secondaries but yours maybe a 450 cfm. If you do a full rebuild just make sure you use the correct gaskets since the kit will come with a bunch that you won't need and you'll need to make sure you use the same gaskets that you take out or you can cover a necessary opening (like I did), it was also helpful to have compressed air available to blow out all the little nooks and crannies.
Awesome thanks! I was told it was a 650 by the guy I got it from but I found some numbers on it and called Holley and the guy said It was a 450 so Idk. I definitely appreciate the info.
well, I replaced the transfer tube O-rings and the primary bowl gasket. I got it to fire up and it sounds funny. My mechanic buddy is on his way over to try and help me figure this out. By the way, I got the whole rebuild kit at O'reilly auto parts, for $21.99+tax. I called and they said they didn't have it in stock. then I went on their website and found it and the lady looked and they had it!
