I'm trying to locate a source for the bolt shown in the drawing. Ford here doesn't have any but did supply the info presented here. It it's bigger than the 3/8'' bolt that is used in the slotted part of the alternator bracket and so I've tried a number of 7'16'' bolts but they're all too big. Does anyone have a hard- to-find bolt resource. Maybe Number Dummy has an idea? I did try Green Sales without luck and the local JY's don't have anything so far.
If 3/8" is too small, and 7/16" is too big, I would suspect that the threads have pulled out of the hole.
There is no standard size bolt between 3/8" and 7/16". I don't think Ford used metric bolts on the alternator brackets. If you want to try it, 10mm is between 3/8" and 7/16", but I would bet there just aren't any threads in the hole.
There seem to be threads in the hole so I'm going to try 10 mm bolts, fine & coarse thread if I never locate one from a JY to try out. I could probably use a long 10 mm w/epoxy or JB Weld, cut of excess and put a nut and lock washer on that. Even if I just end up putting that on as a stud it would work to keep the bracket in place.
