surrender already??

Well I hope it's true. But they might be reffering to the high ranking officers that want to negotiate their individual surrenders in terms of cash and immunity.

The should be happy just to have their lives spared, except they would refuse and go down hard, taking all their men with them.

I just heard tonight we already spent 2 million dollars for bribes and information. A little more won't hurt if it saves some lives. They will need their men to rebuild their nation. I do hope though that we make them pay for war reparations out of their oil revenues.

I'll believe it when I see proof that he is dead, but I wouldn't be suprised if he is dead or severely injured. It just doesn't seem like there has been enough retaliation coming from Iraq if he is alive or in charge. I also agree that money for bribes is a good idea if it saves lives and is worth while information. As for the top Republican Guard surrendering, I don't know about that. I would like to see them give up, but I don't think they should be set free. These are the higher ranking men and what is to say they won't try to overthrow the new government that is installed. I don't think they would have much success (or brains for that matter) with the United States of America backing up the new government. I'll be suprised if this last much longer, say two weeks tops. My only concern is if Sadam is alive, he might wait until troops are in Bagdad and then release chemical and biological weapons taking out anybody around, including civilians, his own troops, and maybe even himself.

surrender already??

First let me say that I am 100% behind my president and our troops.

I don’t want to be the one to put another twist on this war thing, but if this isn’t a hoax or trick and this war does end this quickly, the only ones this will mean something to is all of us in the good old US of A. The fact that there hasn’t been much resistance or battle from Iraq will only justify those against us that maybe we (the US) didn’t have all of our facts straight and that just maybe there was no reason for the act against Iraq. I don’t believe that for a minute, but looking at it from the opposition, it don’t look good.

On top of winning this war, we need to find their weapons to justify fighting this war in order for it to have closure. Either that, or have the other side at least attempt to put up a good fight.

Just my 2 pennies worth.

Good points Carlene.

Another 2 cents into the pot.

The comentary I heard is that the Iraqi army has no chain of command. If the top army leaders and taken out along with their communications, the army has no leadership and no plan. The attempt as already been made to kill Saddom and other top leaders. The U.S. had to know of their whereabouts and movements in order to make a strike like that. News like this travels fast among the leadership. If we can find and target Saddom, we can target anybody.

With all this talk about surgerical strikes and pinpointing targets and the U.S. proving they can do just what they say, perhaps one reason the Iraqi military leaders are laying low in fear of being targeted and killed. And without the top leadership, the Iraqi military, for all pratical purposes is usless. The Iraqi military leaders along with the rank and file must be hearing all the talk about our capability as well and have decided to take president Bush's advice. Saddom just aint worth it.

Another point. The Pentagon has been saying that these air strikes are not the main attack. And whatever ground troops moving in now, is not the main force. So, what the Pentagon is saying to the Iraqi army is, you ain't seen nothing yet and "we have not yet begun to fight!". That ought to put fear into them if they weren't fearful already.

Go Mr. President!

surrender already??

We always said we were going after the big shots, to set the rest of 'em free -

But if we got the jackpot right from the start, it will go down in history as not only a landmark action but the strangest war in all of history!

Almost like something out of an old cowboy movie:

"BANG! You're dead..."

This, it seems to me, would be an extraordinarily shocking outcome to the terrorists in the world today for our having filed the paperwork, gone through the motions, and instead of striking at some anonymous thousands of inocent bystanders surgically SMACKED precisely the target that would have the result we chose.

Steal airliners, will you? Humph...
Bomb our buildings with them, eh?

We have machines that can do all of that wholesale.

So go ahead - stick your head up and be a nuisance to world peace! We see you, and as soon as all of the reports are filed you will be taken care of by the next available 'operator'.

Have a nice day,

~ the Management

The world knows they have Scud-II's, Carlene is right, we need the smoking gun. We have already uncovered a Russian connection to Iran that was a secret and we need to expose the French for their involvement with Iraq.

Like the Fuzz carry a 'throw-down' piece, do the Ranger's carry a 'throw-down' biological weapon?

surrender already??

*Lays two pennies on the counter*

All good points here.

I agree with most all said, especially the need to find the "smoking gun". Our president has clearly defined the reasons for this action and uppermost on the list was weapons of mass destruction. If we liberate the Iraqi people, cut off the head of the snake Saddam, and still fail to produce the WMD, there will ALWAYS be some who come back and say "you never proved your case, your actions were illegitimate".

To my mind, the atrocities Saddam has committed are reason enough for the actions. They certainly were enough with Bosnia and Kosovo, why is this different? Those who have protested the war supposedly are protesting for human rights. Yet no one protests when Saddam uses a few thousand of his own people (rebellious though they were) to test the effectiveness of his chemical weapons. Where were these voices when his solution to prison overcrowding was wholesale executions? Many of the executed were guilty of nothing more than speaking ill of Saddam. If these human rights violations can be so easily ignored, then I have no doubts that when the war is analyzed, these same people will be the first to say America was wrong to take action IF no WMD are discovered. And I really believe they can overlook the one or two SCUD's that have been launched even though Iraq was not supposed to have any more.

I believe in what we're doing. I believe in our president and his decisions. And yes I am thankful that we have someone in office who has put country and security ahead of re-election hopes. It is my hope that this war is quick and decisive and accomplishes ALL the objectives.

The fact that so many are surrendering early is proof that the French have been intimately involved with the country.

I hope that all Iraqi soldiers recognize that they serve their country and people best by surrendering and starting all over with the welfare of their people the prime consideration.

Almost like something out of an old cowboy movie:

Bang your Dead...
I like this scenario. After the first tomohawk strikes its mark - war is pronounced over.

No problem here if we don't find positive proof of WMD...conspiracy theory believers will doubt irregardless.

If you have faith in the united nations to do the right thing keep this in mind, they have libya heading the committee on human rights and iraq heading the global disarmament committee. do your own math here.

Red face surrender already??

I agree with Raul. It looks as though the French lead the training of the Iraqi army.

Nevertheless, if we REALLY got Saddam , that WILL be the Shock and Awe Campaign.
