302 oil filter angle mount
I have 302 in an old 1947 ford truck but with a front suspension and sub frame from a 1981 Camaro.
The engine fits great but the cradle it is in limits the oil filter to a shorty.
I picked up a 90 degree angle mount from a 460 at a junkyard because all Fords used the standard FL1A filter in those years (1970s).
The problem is the long bolt to hold it to the block srews into a fitting, and that fitting has outer threads, so it looks like it screws into the block. But my engine has a pipe fitting in the block that hasn't got anywhere on it to put a wrench or socket, so I don't think it comes out. If these pipe nipples don't come out, how does the how do the angle mounts mount on?
Thanks.
Since it's just a standard pipe nipple just get a pipe wrench to remove it.
You will damange the threads but if your not going to use it what does it matter.
If you could find a couple of nuts with the correct thread you could use the double nut method to remove the nipple. Screw them both on and then try to remove the first one while holding the other one stationary on the nipple with a wrench.
