You mean where the intake mates to the cylinder head? Its possible I guess. If the intake gasket was bad it definately causes a vacuum leak, but I wouldnt think too much oil should be coming out of there if that was the only problem. Its not the valve cover leaking instead is it? Do you have any pics of it? Which engine do you have?
Its on a 400 and the leak isn't around the cylinder heads. It's at the ends of the intake manifold where it just sits on the block. I have puddles of oil around the sending unit in the back and the distributor up front and I can see a chunk of the rubber seal sticking out so I know that's where it is coming from. I am just trying to decide if I can put some RTV on it it or if I need to pull the whole manifold and do it again.
I've got the same problem and keep putting it off as it looks like it's been doing it for years (I just got the truck). To do it right you need to pull the manifold and put down a new gasket.
Oh sorry I gotcha now. Yea mine does the same thing apparently its pretty common. On mine it doesnt cause a vacuum leak though. If you go to fix it, i would go the extra step and take the manifold off and reseal it.
Another question I have is, when I bought my edelbrock aluminum performer intake manifold, the instructions said not to use the metal valley pan gasket. Anyone had problems with using the valley pan gasket?
