Can you show me the thread? Missed emails and calls can happen, and everyone's stories are different. I don't think I've ever seen a retailer that had zero bad feedback. I've been following the different tuners for several years now though and this is the first time I've heard negative about Eric, and like I said, my experience was outstanding, he went above and beyond.
it's on PSN on His own section for one
Matt has his own also section also
if you read all the post while some folks seem impatient I think the general decision would be Matt is better at responding IMHO and I dealt with Matt last weekend for some adjustments since I got my studs .. I had a revision the next day (weekend)
I also Had codes present for EGR but no CEL ? so I had questions but no answers with Eric's as it turns out it seems to be He used to or still does just block the CEL light ..not really ideal specially if your local DEQ plugs into your OBDII but Matt's blocks just the codes so the CEL can still set if need be
I know you wouldn't recommend anyone you weren't happy with but this is how it went down for me
OK, I'm back from work and gotta say, thanks to all of you for your replies. BTW, Matt did not respond to my phone message so I sent him an email. Hopefully he will respond soon.
ZMann, please elaborate. I think I am reading in your post that ID's tune just blocks the CEL, in affect shutting down other code reads, to include other possible power train problems? That is not what I am trying to do. Please tell me that I misread your post.
"BTW, Matt did not respond to my phone message so I sent him an email. Hopefully he will respond soon."
JUST FYI....I sent him 10 emails....answered every one of them. I asked him to call me, but he was out of town on business or racing or something. I sent him a reminder that I had not received a phone call yet. He called me 11pm his time (9pm mine) from home. I heard his kids in the background. We talked about the tunes and a few hours later I had them. Everyone needs a reminder now and then so call him again he may have alot going on....never know.
In regards to Matt's tunes, he automatically removes the EGR strategy from all of his tunes but suggests leaving the EGR plugged in....I believe it is for the fan operation.
My tunes from ID disabled the EGR and I didn't have any codes showing with my AutoEnginuity. All tuners have pretty much the same capabilities, determined by options in their SCT programming software.
Well, you guys were right. Matt responded to my email rather quickly. In his email he said he is backed up with phone calls (20 more to go) but will call me tomorrow for sure so we can discuss what he has to offer for my tuning needs. I am looking forward to talking with him.
Thanks again for all of your replies. It's very helpful.
Still waiting to hear from Matt. Hopefully today sometime, so I can compare my experience between ID and GH.
But, while I'm waiting, what is the difference between SCT-SF3, SCT-X3 and SCT-Live Wire? Any recommendations on which I should buy?
I found a site that offers the SF3 for $337 and the Live Wire for $449. Would it be worth it to buy them at that site, then buy just the custom tunes from Matt or Eric or would it be best to buy the tuner at the same place as the tunes for some reason? that was
"my" experiance with ID and the more I think back it may have been with the EGR unplugged ? but the code was present just no CEL and I had another tune writer validate my findings
however that was a year ago and things change but i am happy with Matts so I won't be looking for anything else

SF3- comes with three tunes and room for 3 custom X3-Comes with no tunes and ready for custom tunes to be downloaded Live Wire-Not sure, but I recall this unit not working well with the 6.0L (don't quote me)

Thanks for the help, guys.

I think either way you go or whoever tunes your truck, it will be much better than it ever was.
These trucks aren't worth driving without a tune
I am in getting an oil change (free) this am and went back to stock ,, what a pig
gave me flashbacks of almost getting whacked on day one when I pulled her out in traffic like I would a gasser lol ,, but now I can do that and stay alive

You're also running 35s with stock gears. I was very happy with how mine ran with stock programming, but it was much better after switching to 4.30 gears to offset the tire size increase. My dad's '03 is all stock and it also runs great and pulls heavy a lot. If yours is a pig, you could have one of the bad factory flashes, in which case what your tuner can do is being handicapped.
I've run both and I like both. They both have great power and great transmission shifting but IMHO it all comes down to what you like for YOUR truck. Buy the CHEAPEST SCT X3 you can find and then order the custom tunes from one or the other or BOTH for that matter. You won't be sorry with either one.

my stock tire size was
275/65-20<SMALL>d=34.07</SMALL>
and I have had two flashes in my truck so neither of those items should play into my impression of the truck ? however plenty of folks agree with my take on a stocker ,, that being stated I have seen faster stockers than others
