I am not sure where to put this. I sure it will find it's way there.
My buddy (who I can't name) owns a company (which I can't name) had a run in with a Brotnick Ford in Maryland. He bought a V10 E450 work van. It was sold to him as "Top of the line workhorse". Long story short...He towed his bike to Bristol and the truck completely pooped out all the way there. It wouldn't maintain speed etc...no power/torque at all. Meanwhile his friend (chevy guy) towed the same and never broke a sewat. His buddy got 13 MPG and he got 6.
My buddy called Brotnick Ford and complained..."sorry". So he wrote a letter to Ford. "I currently own 14 F and E series vehicles not to mention my wife and son own Fords and I have a GT and have been a Ford man my whole life. I drove this POS E450 and I am sorry to say this will be the last Ford I will ever own"...blah blah blah.
FWD: he got a call from Ford telling him to call Brotnick Ford and explain it to them. He told him he has already talked to them...they insisted on him calling back again!
He called Brotnick Ford and the owners son talked to him...."Man you really got them upset up there at Ford"..... To shorten up the story. They bought the truck back after many months/miles later at full price PLUS GAVE him a loaded F450 6.7(?). It is very cool! He says when you kick it...it really goes. apperently the intake are on the sides and exhuast is down the center!?!.
Anyway...I am sure the average joe would not get that treatment but he did. I tell you what, I know the man and means what he says...he would've been a chevy man very quickly. Glad they made it right.
A creative nudge goes farther than walking in half cocked which yields nothing. Most problems can be resolved with a dealer or Ford by level headed thinking and contacts. Glad to see he got things worked out, plus in defense of the dealer, we only know one side of the story.
I am glad it worked out for everyone. He has spent literally millions there at that one dealership over the years easily. I am not so sure that the average Joe who buy's a new truck every 10 years or so would get the same treatment.
My boss who has known him since he was a kid, said "He is the only person he knows that can fall in a barrel of monkey poop and get up and smell like roses... every time!..been like that his whole life".
ANYWAY....Ford made things right! I am not jealous, just glad everyone is happy
It is good to hear that Ford stood behind him. It is sad to hear that the dealership wouldn't make it right on their own, they needed to be prodded by Ford.
Its great to hear Ford is taking care of your buddy but I'm not sure it would work the same for the average Joe in a similar issue. Ford was clearly thinking with their wallets on that issue and wanted to be wise.
