P1316 Attack!!
Any advice please....
If you suspect a burnt center pin and want to check your harness then keep an eye on your EGT gauge next time the symptoms occur. Assuming your probe is pre-turbo and in the driver's side exhaust manifold.....then high EGTs during SES light points to a fault in your passenger side. Low EGTs during SES light points to a fault in your driver's side. Pull whichever valve cover you suspect and remove the gasket and harness completely. It's very difficult (if not impossible) to see the burnt terminals with the parts in place. You have to pull them out and get a good look with adequate lighting to see the issue.
If you find something that looks like this, then order a replacement set from RiffRaff. If you need your truck while you wait for the parts, then you can use a small pipe cleaner on the harness connector and some emery cloth on the gasket pin to clean it up enough to get you buy for a week or two. It will happen again so don't just clean it and forget about replacing the parts because the symptoms will return.
Riffraff Diesel: Ford Valve Cover Gaskets
well this cost me a good penny, it wouldnt run after lunch yesterday so i had to get a tow truck
to take it to Ford... WHILE it was there they also concluded that i had a busted fuel line (which i went to check it out and a big negative on that "busted fuel line"
) the boots on the lower turbo tubes were about gone so they replaced those, the harness under the valve cover and the gasket for it (passenger side), and my ipc was going out again (which i inspected before giving the go ahead) so needless to say the ol garage got me again. $1400 later
me and the ol lady decided that a 3rd vehicle was necessary so we are going car shopping this weekend for a vehicle "just to put miles on" so i can work on my own junk instead of giving my money to the stealership. Thanks for the help anyways guys, yall are great
!
