AC suction line replacement on 2004 excursion

Hi there, 2 yrs ago I was told I need to replace my rear ac suction line. I was told service will be ~ 820 usd.
I did it last week and it was ~1200 usd. I was told now the line is 2 pieces thing that's why I have to replace it as 2 pieces thing.
What I'm trying to understand if Ford has changed design of ac suction line (was it one line/pece on 2004???)? If I would make that service back to few yrs back would it be cheaper because of the parts were different?
THX in advance!
Put.

I had the same line replaced on mine a few years ago. A single piece line was replaced with a 2 piece, just as you describe. I can't tell you why the price had gone up for you. Could the A/C system have been contaminated/damaged after needing the repair for so long? Did you ask the people that did the work?

nope, just line replacement and recharge, @ one dilership they told me it used to be one line and now it's 2 so I have to replace (and pay of course) 2 pieces. Original dilership (who calculated 800$) said maybe tech calculated only on piece 2 yrs ago. Basically I'm trying to understand if it used to be one piece was that piece price=2 pieces now or design was changed to have 2 pieces and prices went up completely unproporcionally...

The one piece line is replaced by the 2 piece one because it is so long they can't get it in/out, too hard to ship, and it has little to do with the prices. $1,000+- was the going price a few years ago so I just used that bottom splice ^ above to fix it 2 years ago and it's 100* out right now it it worked fine an hour ago going to the store. The price includes evacuating and charging with new "Freon". I did a how-to with pics on it in here.

Looks like it is mostly you (EXv10) and me bringing this topic back to life. LOL...
I think this topic will always be a good one.
I am with you (EXv10) I am not a fan of only having front AC... Why half *** it? I haven't half ***'d any other part of my Excursion, why would I start now?

Today I called Auto Cooling Solutions and they are flirting with making lines for the excursion. IMO they should because nobody else does!
I am just ordering a 18' "repair hose kit" and eliminating the original aluminum line. It had countless holes in the front and one next to the rear hanger.
They also informed me they have the block offs in stock too.
