brake question

On my truck it seems when ever it rains or is real misty in the air the front brakes get ultra sensitive. The slightest touch will, what seems to me like, lock them up. Is this because the water on the brakes themselves or is there an underlying issue? The pads and rotors were done within the last year by a pro. the truck is 96 f150 4x2 inline6

This has happened to every OBS pickup I have ever owned. It usually settles down once I'm on the road and do a bit of braking.

Both of my '93 Lightnings had touchy brakes like that. If there was any moisture in the air you had to be very careful the first few times you applied the brakes. My '92 F350 4X4 on the other hand is not phased by moisture regardless of how long it has sat or how hot the pads and rotors are. It's always the same, very linear.

I think it is what composition the pads are made up of that triggers this condition.

The brake rotors will form a light scale of rust on a wet night that makes the surface extra grabby, after a few stops this is worn off and you're down to clean metal again.

Just be careful! The other option is to pull your front wheels off, sand, then clean the rotors, and button it all back up before you take off That does not sound most desirable though.
