Side Emblem replacement help

Side Emblem replacement help
Trying to replace the side fender emblem inserts on my '66 slick. When feeling around behind the fender I feel the posts but can't feel any nuts that should hold the emblem on the fender. How are these typically attached? It may be that the previous owner used adhesive but other than that any thoughts?

The stems of the emblem are inserted into expandable metal sleeves, so there are no nuts on the back side of the stems. The emblems can be removed using plastic putty knives to protect your paint. Slowly work the corners, and try some penetrating oil to help loosen them.

Replacement barrel clips can be bought from automotive paint supply stores, Au-Ve-Co (auveco.com), and some of the repop sellers.
