88 ford van fuel pump ?????????????????
well i just got done installing a new pump in my rear tank because the lines rusted away .how conveniant had to buy the whole assembly!anyways now the thing stopped working ran after installing the pump then parked van for 2 weeks now its not pumping and the gauge reads empty... it has 2 tanks and will not run or read on either. has spark but no fuel..help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You probably have a third external pump mounted on the frame rail below the drivers seat. When you turn the key on (but don't crank) you should hear that pump run for a few seconds. IF not, either that pump could be bad, or it could be the fuel pump relay. That's probably under the hood in the power distribution block. However, neither of these components would cause the fuel guage not to work. Does everything else work when you turn the ignition on??

everything else seems to work when you hit the key . volt gauge works no temp or oil probably cuz its not starting.there is a third pump? did not know that .how can i check if it is the pump or relay???i dont believe i heard anything when i turned the key. but it was outside so was hard to tell..i will try tonight after work thanks

F.Y.I It's normal, the gauge for the front tank on mine as well as several other people I know works sporadically. I found a tsb about moisture in the fuel pump relay causing it not to start. Check the fuel pump kicking in when the key is in the on position first though.
