Finally - It's Here!
I ordered it on President's Day, and there doing the PDI today. Hurray! Don't get me wrong, I love my little red '97 150 flareside. It's just that my wife and I have outgrown it, and the grandkids don't fit in the back seat of her Mustang GT anymore - let alone all 4 of us in my regular cab. Besides, I can't stand to watch her squat with the loads I've put the ol' 2WD 1/2 ton through anymore nor can I stand by and listen to her little 4.6L V8 grunt and groan whenever I decide to pull a John Deere or Bobcat around on a trailer.Anyway, I'm glad to have found this group. I've only been looking around a few days, but have learned a ton of stuff already. For instance, one of the threads I read through was asking for advise on getting more and better sound out of their 5.4 exhaust, and someone explained how the Triton engines require the back pressure to be kept within proper limits to avoid losing HP. I have had this problem with my 4.6 almost the entire time I've owned it. I had Midas put true duals on it shortly after I got it (it came with dual cats). I was expecting to get a little more HP & MPG out of it (like in the olden days), but instead I lost about 2 MPG. One thing about having this problem is that I won't face such culture shock going to the V10 - I'm pretty used to poor mileage.
Sorry about being so long-winded... I'm just really, really, really excited!
. Hope you liove your truck as much as I love mine. Welcome to the Looney Bin
We all love it here. Great bunch of people. You learn more here than anywhere else. Have yet to see a problem or question go unsolved or unanswered. Get some pics up!Enjoy the Ride

I also went from a 1/2 ton pickup to a SuperDuty V10 last fall and I don't know why I didn't switch to a heavier-duty pickup years ago. You're going to like that new truck alot!

I got a Black 2003 F350 Lariat CrewCab FX4 with the V10. I didn't get the moonroof, the snow plow package, the CD changer, or the transmission PTO (don't plan to mow the field with it
); otherwise, all other "allowed" Lariat options are there. The only things that aren't stock so far are the floor mats (the slush mats from the Ford Accessories catalog) and a Putco 3-piece polished tube grill. It's SWEEEET!
It seems to be a few inches taller than any of the ones I've test driven over the last few years. I don't know if it's the beefier springs for the camper package, or what made the difference...but I like it. When I've test driven them, I normally just slid directly in, but I have to use the nerf step on mine.
The only major disappointment, which really made me
, was that it was chosen at the factory for their "random" 52 mile joy ride. When it came off the truck, it had mud and gravel splashed all over the passenger side from it. What gives them the right to drive MY truck? I didn't give anyone permission to go 4-wheelin' with it. As soon as I put the deposit down, it was MY truck. Keep your grubby hands off!
People expect some miles on the ones off the lot, but when you order it, there should only be enough miles to get it on and off the carrier. I'm glad they do these quality checks, but not on mine - use the lot vehicles!(Sorry for the rant - my blood still boils when I think about it.)
Anyway, I'll post some pics as soon as I can. I don't have a digital, yet, so I'll have to get some developed and scan them in (the old fashioned way).
Thanx for the welcome!
)Congrats and good luck.
Sounds like a sweet rig, get some pics up in your gallery.
I wouldn't worry too much about the 50 miles, what's 50 out of 200,000 right?
The dealer should have had it washed and fueled up for you though. They all get dirty during transport.Don't be a stranger, we're all here to help, and believe me, most of the guys here NEED help.
