I just picked up a used MTX Thunderform for my 2005 F250 CC, I know its not the best but it was a decent price. The sub has been replaced with a Memphis and screwed in using drywall screws. The wiring was glued in; it didnt have the MTX wiring harness. But anyway, is it supposed to be stuffed with a white cotton substance? Will I get a better sound pulling that stuff out?
Nevermind, found some stuff online. Its poly-something. Says it makes the subwoofer feel like the box is bigger. Might take some out if I end up not liking the sound with it in. If anyone has any experience with this set up and has any wise words, let me know!
If its the right size for the Memphis sub it should work. The polyfill will make it seem to have a bigger box. Check the box for leaks. Caulk the seams & where the wires come in. I use foam weatherstrip to caulk my sub to the box. Give it the right power & it should hit good
I agree. You need the flat surface of the panhead screw cap to get a good seal. The drywall screws dent the bottom of the mounting holes on contact due to the tapered head
