I average 25,000 miles a year so I went with the 5 year/125,000 mile bumper to bumper plan for $2,200. List was $2,900. I did not buy it on my 2005 and shelled out a lot of money out of pocket. If nothing else you know it is going to pay for 2 sets of ball joints in 125,000 miles.

Wow, that's huge. What was the deductible? I wonder how much 250 to 350 makes in cost?

The ball joint comment is dead on.

General question, if you say it has a plow does it just up the cost and how much?

I'm glad this thread is back up. I chose not to go with the ESP from my dealer. 4yr 75k was $2,450! I just didnt see the benefit paying off for that kind of money. I also agree that you have to be careful not to go with an aftermarket company as they tend to play games.

On a side note, I dropped USAA yesterday and signed on with Allstate after confirming their coverage policy on failed components for our 6.7's. In doing this we saved $500/yr all in with identical coverages and deductibles for 3 vehicles our toy hauler and homeowners. It almost seems to me that this policy would work as well as an ESP for the significant failures.

I have filled out dozens of the online quotes so far and a lot of them will take only some of the information and then "quote" you a low price but then when you go to order it it asks you the rest of the questions whice alter the price. They also seem to all default to the $100 deductible.

These are my options:

Premium Care
7 years / 125,000 miles
$0 deductible
F-250
4x4
Diesel
No rental car
No snow plow
No commercial use
Purchased within the last year
Existing warranty in effect
Milage between 7500 and 10,000

I have found that most of the big city ones and the ones with a website ESP calculator are all about the same (within about $100 of each other). The dealers I have called out in a corn field in Kansas, and got a quote over the phone, can save you substantial $$$. I just haven't call every one of them yet. But I am in no real hurry so I'll just keep looking.

So what about the snow plow thing? How does it effect the ESP?

Wait....so USAA doesn't cover contaminated fuel?

Thanks for letting me know. Sounds like I need a new insurance provider too if that's the case.

Dim Sum, they didn't even hesitate to say no when I called and asked. Geico also said no. Amica thought they would but they had to make some phone calls and were going to get back to me tomorrow. Allstate without hesitation said yes.

I'm guessing that normally failing components are not covered under comprehensive. I do not know if "contaminated fuel" per se has been adjudicated through their system. If anybody knows of an actual case being taken to USAA, post it up.

I called USAA also. Absolutely no coverage. Disappointing.... almost as disappointing as finding out that Ford gives the shaft to its customers on their high dollar trucks when they fail in the warranty period.

Have you seen anything from Allstate in writing that stipulates they cover "fuel" contamination or other catastrophic power train failures? I'd be hesitate to change insurers based on what someone says on the telephone.

Just great. Now I need to decide to change insurance companies.

Thank you for the heads up and for checking. I would have just hummed along thinking I'm covered otherwise .

No, USAA. They were familiar with the scenario as I explained it and they said they would not cover it unless the water was from a natural catastrophic event (flood, hurricane etc.). They did say if it was proven vandalism to the vehicle with a police rpt it would probably be covered.
