I getting a CD player/radio for my truck for Christmas and I was wondering how to take the stock unit (Cassette) out and put the new one in. Would I have to pull the dashboard out to get to it? Would I have to use a special adapter? And would I have to do anything to my antenna? I appreciate any advice.
To remove, all you need to do is insert a coat hanger or other stiff wire (straightened) into all four holes on the sides and work it out. There is a tool specifically for this, but you don't need it. Unplug your wires, and that's it. It makes it a lot easier if you get a wiring harness with the new cd player to plug into the factory wiring. This makes it easier too to put the old one back in if you ever wish to. All you need to do with the antenna is unplug it from the old one and plug it into the new one.
You are going to have to put the cdplayer sleave (comes with the new radio) into the dash opening and bend the little tabs to hold it. The hookup the new radio and slid itin. I had to file my dash a little for the sleave to go in an my 94.
When I put the CD player in my 91 f-250 I took the slider from the stock radio and mounted it to the CD player. It lined up perfectly with the hole for that little metal strap that came with the CD player. It doesn't rattle or bounce and makes for a clean installation. The CD player is a Pioneer but I don't remember the model number off hand. I can get it tomorrow if you would like.

I highly recommend the removal tools. They are u-shaped and work like a charm. I got mine for 4 bucks at autozone(or any local auto parts store im shure). I also used the stock slider and i bolted a metal strip that came with the cd player to the same spot where i bolted the slider. I bent the metal strip up and above the cd player so it would run right below the track. Then i bolted the strip to the track. Use the access from the glove box for this. Now the only way to remove it is by removing the glove box. Try stealing it now you s**ts! A necessary instalation procedure in my neighborhood.
