Spring is finally starting to show her face around here and am waiting for a nice hot day to do a major cleaning of the 94. I am looking for some opinions and options on the best products to clean and shine this old trucks. first off i have a pretty nice set of american racing wheels that have 8 years of road grim and what not that i would like to get off. The back right one is the worst since the pipe exits in front of that tire. options for good wheel cleaner.
Next, this truck has an almost completely straight body only a couple minor blemishes. I met a guy the other day driving a 93 bronco that was so clean it looked as though it just came off the line. He said original paint and everything he just took the buffing wheel to it. I would like to do this after i get it washed and all the road grim off it. I have never used a buffing wheel and need to buy one so any advice here would be great.
Also the seats and carpet need some love as i live down a mile long muddy driveway. What is the best carpet and seat cleaner for these old girls
Any other tips or tricks would be great also i appreciate your inputs.
body, clay bar is the best. the wheels can be tough. 000 steel wool if its got some gouges. theres a stainless steel tin thats a wheel cleaner. theres a polish and scrubber inside and it works well if the wheels are pretty straight, just oxidized. for the engine, get some bright orange spray, let it set and pressure wash it off.
clay bar can be had at any autoparts place now that mothers makes one. And buffing wheels can be purchased at napa, you will want 2 stages off polish and 2 different wheels. First is a wool wheel with a meduim grit paste, final is a foam egg shell crate wheel and black finish polish. Clay bar after and your paint will feel better then glass
why not get some detailer quotes? We got a guy who will do all that plus under ood detail and do the interior for 65. That's less then you will pay for materials
Oreo that is a great idea. It seems years ago i called on this for a another pickup and it was somewhere around $300. Never hurts to make a few calls though
