First Tow Mileage

Not towing a ton, open car trailer with a 3600lb car.

Probably around 5500-6000 lbs.

Left Cincinnati, after going through the mountains, my first fill up was showing 14.7, 14.2 actual. that was going around 72 avg, 75 at times and cracked 80 a few times.

The rest of the way to atlanta, keepin her around 72 or so, saw 17.3 on the meter 16.8 actual.

I was very pleased with that.

I had to rock it to get home and was cranking about 80 most of the way, tripping 85 and even 90 on the last stretch. I still ended up at 12.3 the last stretch including mountains with the higher speeds.

Truck towed much nicer in general. Both were 250 crew sb 4x4's

I think he meant that he wasn't "A lot of weight" not that he was towing a ton. He did not need an actual ton, 6000 lbs is not a lot of weight to pull with these trucks "It's not a ton to haul". IMHO

Great mileage, must be the aerodynamics of the car on the trailer. My 8k lb. TT will only get good mileage (14 or 15) below 65 and then needs a tail wind. Heck, I barely do better than 16.8 running empty!

jammer
