Transmission Wont Shift

Hey guys i have a 1977 Ford F-100 With a 302. I just had my transmission rebuilt and now it wont shift out of first. I have ran out of ideas. Any ideas on what could be the problem? I need to fix it so i can sell it and get a newer ford truck. Thanks

Is it under any type of warranty from the shop? If so take it back. Did you test drive it when you picked it up, and it worked correctly right? Ck the fluid correctly?

Did the vacuum line come off from the intake manifold? Is the gear shift lever hooked up correctly? Or have you checked the linkage?

Well since they replaced the fly wheel (over torque the hdwr)? It should still be covered by some kind of warranty 30 days or 1000 miles???? Unless they are a shady place????

If I took a vehicle to a place with a good xmsn for a repair to something other than that and then all of a sudden it is not working, they damn sure would be fixing it.

Especially since they just fixed the xmsn, its on them, sorry I have no other suggestions on what to ck.

But sounds like they screwed up again. Did you test drive it the second time you picked it up? And it was good? Did they test drive after they replaced the flywheel? You have to drop the xmsn to change the fly wheel so.......I would think they would test drive it.

This place sounds shadier than 2 miles up ol booger hollar creek at sun down.

I'd be on them like stink on sh** to make em fix it. I'm sure you paid good money to have it repaired and it should be right after they are done. If you are unsuccessful at getting them to do anything, Take the truck to a well seen parking lot on the busiest street in your town. Make up some signs that say "This truck had its transmission repaired by (whoever it was) And now it wont move!!!!" Hang them on both sides and let it sit there for a week or two.....................Then tell every one you know not to take anything to that place............You might not get your truck running, but you CAN get even.......... This kind of thing is why I started working on my own stuff when I was first starting to drive. I got tired of getting screwed by so called "professional" shops.

I would park it right in front of their shop or business (on a public road of course) if they will not make it right. Don't let them get away with it!

Most xmsn shops are crooked as a bag of snakes! Sorry if this offends someone that owns a xmsn business, but you know what I mean...

Glad to hear they are willing to fix it. As far as selling it with a xmsn problem you will take a loss on the price.

Just get them to fix it, sounds like its their fault anyway. Oh forgot to mention, is the kick down lever installed correctly?

If they said they would make it right, then they have allready admitted they are in the wrong. Make them fix it , install another trany, or give a full refund back and if they don't get at it right away ,then that's to their advantage because it makes it look like you really don't care. If they move it out of the shop, then do what was suggested with the signs on a public street. Keep us in the loop as to what happens, good luck. JIM
