My father took the turbo off yesterday as i just found out. Here is whats LEFT of the damn piping, my dad said the crossover pipe just fell apart while taking if back off the manifold, so he said he pitched it(the garbage man came yesterday....so I have no crossover pipe now:
Wastegated? Yes/No? I cant tell because im unfamiliar with Banks.
I was gonna say there aint a wastegate that I could see, then again at the time. I wasnt complaining about it because it was 300 bucks....no wonder it was so cheap. SO guys, ima need all new pipes cause im not even gonna mess with any of the old stuff. Joe, can you either walk me through/get me in touch with whomever you got new pipes made for.
I gotta get this thing up and going to get it to the shop for flywheel replacement, my dad is too old to be messing with a transmission and flywheel(back has serious issues) so i gotta get this either back to stock with just the N/A or new piping for this old turbo.
Some shaft play in it. He already made sure of that, the turbo sat in the open for a while in a garage on a 7.3 from 1991. So the impeller and whatnot is ok. it doesnt touch anywhere or anyhting like that. The turbo had 157k on it. Mid-life turbo, the guy had it installed and then drove 157k and the 7.3 dropped its main bearing.
Well shoot my girlfriend is from Small Butte lol, just outside browning. When I get home I gotta make my run to Iowa, I will stop off in Bozeman and meet up with you, thank god there is another IDI guy in montana on this forum haha.
