Have been having issues with blinding smoke during regeneration on 2008 F-250. Been to the dealer four times, updates, whatever... Back to the dealer, told them still smoking...after a week of trying to find the problem, they called in a ford tech. ..something to do with a high pressure oil pump adding fuel to the engine oil.....causing regen...Told me cab has to come off and it may be another week...The only good thing is , under warranty....if it wasn't it would be over $10 thousand repair bill...crazy but hopefully they fix it......Just hope the engine wasn't hurt by the diesel in the oil.
Hate to say this, have had diesels for 15 years. the cost up front and to keep them running now doesn't make sense...unless things improve, might go back to gas....they seem to be getting better...
life of the dpf is aprox 150k. there is a load pid that tells the current state of the system. also we can moniter back pressure.
best way for you to tail is by looking at the color of the pipes at the tips.
Hmm not the first time I've heard of this kind of repair on this engine. It doesn't make sense to me that Ford would design (I know the basic design was International) and warranty an engine that carries that heavy of a price tag for one repair. I mean did they not take into consideration the huge amounts of money they could lose? Especially after the 6.0 you would think they'd be more careful...
This is my 4th power stroke, love the truck but this one been a motor mess. I hope they get it right. From reading, this motor has many issues...I'm not the only one,

And thats exactly the reason its a battle to get repairs done. I have yet to have a good experience at the dealer with my 6.4 and it has several "concerns" that the dealers I have been to wont raise a finger to look into. On the flip side I took my daily driver (Pontiac G6) to a GM dealer yesterday and despite the fact I didnt buy the car from them, and despite that the extended warranty I bought was not GM's, I received absolutely OUTSTANDING service and everything was fixed in 1 visit. Makes me wonder if I would get the same service on a new Duramax????
