"in tolerance" & DEF
I have a 2011 F250 Super Duty with the 6.7L diesel, purchased April of 2010. It has almost 17,000 miles on it and I have taken it back a couple of times now for different things, nothing big. The one thing that kind of bothers me is the speed-o-meter is about three MPH fast, after the second time back I was told it was within Ford "Tolerances". Now the truck has been back in the shop for three days with the "Service Engine Soon" light on. After three days, they are now dropping the entire DEF tank and checking it out, "we don't know, we haven't worked on that many 2011's, not sure what to do." This truck can call my wife, tell me the air pressure in the tires and where the closest Starbucks is at, but it can't tell a "Trained Tech" what needs to be fixed. This is my third F250 Super Duty diesel, I loved the first two, hope this issue isn't a sign of things to come.

FYI, speedometers are very, very rarely accurate. And almost never read low.
Why?
Stupid people filing stupid lawsuits because stupid juries hand down stupid awards. If a speedometer read 1 mph too low and they got a speeding ticket, some greedy *******s would sue the manufacturer.
Solution? Simple. Make it read high to a degree that no jury, no matter how stupid, would grant the award.
We are our own worst enemy.

No message about the DEF system at all, the only thing I got was the "Service Engine Soon" came on. When I check the "Systems Check" on the onboard computer read out everything was ok. I had to take it back to the dealership. The problem is that the dealership is just replacing parts until they find out what's wrong, they really don't know what to do, or at least that's what they make it sound like when I speak with them.
mwsF250, I guess you're right about the greedy &$^#*'s who would sue.
