axel question

I am looking at buying a 78 f 150 4x4 will a rear end out of a 72 f250 2wd swap in with out any mods?

The rear in the F150 is probably a Ford 9", although it could be a Dana 44 but that's rare. The F250 is going to be a Dana 60 so I'd say there's going to be some mods.

The question I should have asked is. Are the leaf perches the same distance apart on both axeels.

if i remember correctly, the frames on pre 1977 f250's were narrower in the rear (please, correct me if i'm wrong). i don't think the perches are the same distance.

i know they changed the frame width so you could have a rear gas tank in it but i don't know if it was a big change in width or not.

could always bust out the tape measure and measure the distance between the leaf packs on both trucks

you could weld on new spring perches where you need them,but check axel ratio's first
