High EOT or bad EOT sensor

2006 ford f250. Just changed my oil cooler and blocked the egr cooler. Flushed system with distilled water and refilled with zerex G 05 antifreeze. Also changed oil and oil filter. I monitored my EOT and ECT temps. After driving about 10 miles at freeway speeds The ECTis running in the 190 to 200 range but the EOT reaches 235 to 240. I thought this was very high. Then I checked my temps with the engine cold and found the ECT at 84 and the EOT at 115. Shouldnt these temps be about the same? Is my EOT sensor bad?

Unfortunatly I did not check the temps before changing the parts. The truck died on the interstate and the ford dealership said I needed a new IPR and also I had a leaking egr cooler. So while I was in there I replaced the oil cooler too. Truck is running fine except for the check engine light caused by the blocked egr. I am just worried about the high EOT.

they should be very close in range to room temp after aprox 12 hour cold soak. IMO i would suspect either a sensor or a wire issue. I have not seen may eot/ect sensors fail.

I installed a new eot sensor today and guess what? The eot with the engine cold is still about 33 degrees higher than the ect. I even plugged the new eot sensor in before I installed it and it read 117 degrees to 84 for the ect. installed it and it read the same untill I cranked the engine and let it warm up then the temps went to ect 190 eot 235. If you take away the 33 degrees difference with the engine cold the temps are close to normal. What could be causing this problem? Wiring?

wiring or pcm.
check resistace of the sensor at the sensor.
then check it at the pcm connector should be very close to the same ohms.

When you turn the key on in the morning after the truck sat all night the spread between both temps should be within a few degrees.

Took my old sensor and put it into a glass of ice water along with a thermometer. The eot then went to 64 degrees while the thermometer was at 42. I will check the resistance of the sensor and the wiring next. Thanks for all the info.

Found a place in the wiring at the eot sensor that appears to have been probed with a test light or something but the wire is bare but not broken. Could this be causing my problem?

Did you have any luck with the issue on your truck? My 2006 is doing exactly the same thing.

It's the scanner you're using. I know a tech for a very well known shop that had the same problem and it's because the MAC uses two different PID's for reading oil temps. Try a different scanner BEFORE you go to a lot of extra expense.
