I have a 78 f150 i have been having issues with the truck not starting, just clicking once. I replaced the alternator, battery, solenoid and voltage regulator. The only thing left is the start itself but i don't think it's the problem since it will start sometimes or if i put my jump pack on it. I'm at my wits end with this thing.
All last summer it was hit or miss with this thing starting or not. Any help would be great...
Check and make sure ALL of the battery cable connections are clean and tight. That sounds like the classic symptoms of a bad connection.
Even though the connections may LOOK good the cable could be bad or there could be corrosion build-up.
Double check the cable from the solenoid to the starter and make sure the ground goes to the engine block not sheetmetal.
