We went through a car wash, and after we pulled away, I noticed the compass heading stayed at (N) for North, no matter what actual direction we were going. Slowly, after a few turns over 4-5 miles or so, it started to read correctly again.
A compass can be thrown off by steel around you, but if you move away from the steel, the compass should read correctly again. But 2 miles away from the car wash, it was still reading (N). I think 2 miles should be far enough away
It's as if the steel frame of the car wash that moved back and forth for the super-wash hypnotized the Escape's electronic compass for a while
