99 explorer question

Hi all I'm allways on the 7.3 forum but I have a question for you explorer experts. In the shop I work at we had a 99 explorer last week with a timing belt tensioner gone bad and 4 bent valves. Did all the head work put it back together and it ran awesome. The customer "used car sales man" took it back and detailed the whole engine, everything is clean and covered in armor all and I don't know how all they do it but they probablly pressure washed it. It came back today running rough and a rattle coming from some where down low " I suspect the catylitic converter, the other mechanic has no clue" It also has a realy strong smell of sulfer. The scanner says its lean on bank 1. He tryed a new MAF sensor today and nothing he also changed the spark plugs and one was cracked but didn't fix it. Does any one have any idea or hlpful advice?? Sorry for the lengh.

Did anyone check for vacuum leaks (vacuum lines, intake manifold gasket, PCV elbow)? How old are the spark plug wires? At a minimum make sure all the wires are tight and free of corrosion at both ends. Do you have a scan tool that will allow you to check for misfires on specific cylinders?
