Tranny Question
MY ROOMATE HAS A 89 BRONCO, 170,000 MILES. IT HAS A 302, (WHICH RUNS LIKE CRAP, NEVER BEEN OUT OF TRUCK) BUT THIS QUESTION REVOLVES AROUND THE TRANNY. THE PREVIOUS OWNER SAYS THIS THING HAS A C-6 UNDER IT, IS THIS TRUE I DO NOT KNOW OF ANY C-6S MOUNTED TO A 302, ONLY C-4S. ALSO, WHATEVER TYPE OF TRANNY IS IN IT, IT IS SHIFTING VERY VERY HARD, I ACTUALLY HAVE TO MANUALLY SHIFT IT WHEN THE MOTOR GETS ABOVE 3000 RPMS. PREVIOUS OWNER SAID THAT HE HAD JUST HAD IT REBUILT, WHEN HE SOLD IT TO MY ROOMATE HE SAID THE REASON IT WAS SHIFTING LIKE THIS WAS A BREAKIN PERIOD, NONE OF MY OLDER CARS WITH EITHER C-4S OR C-6S HAVE HAD ANY TYPE OF BREAKIN PERIOD LIKE THIS, NOT AFTER ANOTHER 5000 MILES ANY HELP WOULD BE NICE

Tranny Question
If the tranny will not shift automatically, you will have a couple of problems. You could have a bad modulator, or you are not getting vaccuum to the modulator. I have the c-6 in my '88, but I have it mounted to a 351W. When I took it back east, somehow my vaccuum tree failed. Once I found out I wasn't getting vaccuum to the modulator and repaired that problem, the transmission runs fine. I would trace your vaccuum line going to the modulator and make sure that you are getting good vaccum to the modulator. It's probably an easy fix.
