I think all plow relay setups have one relay for lows, one for highs, not one per side. One relay fails and you would loose your lights. I believe those are all legal and sold by large brands I don't think anyone does it the way you describe. I could be wrong here, so please correct me if I am.
Not that it's a bad idea, because I don't think you are wrong that making each side independent is safer. But I suspect setups like you describe are hard to come by. Now that you've posted this, there is a good chance I may build my own harness then.
I'm getting the harness I posted earlier which is for HIDs and also going to get one for the stock lights. I agree having separate fuses/relays for each light is a good idea, but at the very least you should have a backup light source. In my case I have both a set of driving lights and a set of fog lights built into my brush guard.
driving & fog lights are both good ideas. I'll say that driving around with fogs only is damn near impossible at most speeds. driving lights might be better, dunno.

I can see this, because you can always flip on your high beams or visa versa. The PO that did my car way back when used a single DTDP relay for both the high and low beams. I learned a lot on that car to say the least.
Suffice to say splitting from side to side or high and low would accomplish the same thing. Although you would have that split second of "alertness" before switching high / low.
Lots of good ideas on how to make things better. I think Ford left a little to be desired on the wire sizing for the headlights.
Will do...Thanks Texas.....Out of curiousity though....Does the harness/relays actually brighten the light just a tad? Cos if you look in my build thread, you'll see I have some "Dim" lights...

Yes it can brighten the lights some because they review more power.
I added a large 30 amp blade fues to my relay harness.
One relay for low beams and one relay for high beams is just fine. Many cars/trucks come factory with headlight relays and are done this way. You do not need 4 relays. Most fog lights have 1 relay for the pair of lights.
Skyfox, You still need to get some Hella 550 lights.
I hear ya, it's on my list. I've been making it a point to put money away for a trip to California I am making next month, so I'll probably end up putting it off till June.
