D3VE = 1973, but that doesn't mean the engine is from a 1973, as people tend to swap parts around.
Look for the block casting number, it'll be similar to this: D1VE-6015-AB.
And do not assume the engine is a 460, it could be a 429 as both shared the same block and heads.
The bore is the same (4.36"), the stroke is not. Stroke: 429 = 3.59" / 460 = 3.85"
