hey guys i have a 1967 ford 250 ranger that i bought that has a 460 in it.i dot the numbers off the heads d3ve-a2a my problem is i dont know what year the motor is anyone know how i can find this out. thanks
D9 means 79-and later. "te" means it was in a truck and "ab" means it had a revision to the casting.
The D9TE-AB block was a runningchange that occured in some 1979 F100/350's & Econolines, 1980 and later.
Running change means there is no before/from a certain production date or serial number. Because of this running change, some 1979's have a block marked D1VE-A2B.
AB = original casting. Revisions would be A1B, A2B and etc.
T could refer to any series truck, Bronco, Bronco II, Econoline, Expedition, Explorer and etc etc etc. E = Engineering.
And, because FoMoCo is in-famous for replacing 10's of 1000's of part numbers every year, you should not go by casting/engineering/part number prefixes to ID what the part fits or what year(s) it fits.
