Power Steering Leak

Hey guys,

I have a leak somewhere on the power steering pump. I changed the hose and it still seems to be leaking. I THINK its leaking where the female connector (that the hose connects to) connects to the reservoir. Also looks like it goes into the plastic. Is that likely and is that a part that can be replaced? Could I have potentially not installed the hose correctly (over tightened/under tightened)? It says not to over tighten, so I didnt make it ape tight, just snugged it up nice and gave it a little extra. Kind of doubt I over tightened. Also seems like it would "appear" to be leaking from the same spot when the hose leaks I would think so I guess the hose is a strong possibility, other than it being brand new.

I dont have anyone else here, so I cant turn the wheel and actually watch the pump at the same time. Wife will be home in a few hours - kind of trying to do my homework and get some ideas before I have another hand.

Thanks

Thanks. I read that thread earlier and thats how I decided the hose needed to be replaced. I just re read it more carefully and I do not get what they are talking with the snap ring and stuff though (perhaps thats part of what I think is leaking?). I did see a plastic white o-ring that came with the new hose that looked completely wore out (basically not even there) on the old one.

Anyways, I took a picture of it with an arrow pointing to where I think its leaking (but on the bottom) - its the "adaptor" or "female connector", whatever its real name is, that is mounted to the plastic reservoir. I think, based on the fact that I just replaced the hose, that it is leaking where those connect. Is that possible? How do I fix that? Is it more likely that I didn't install the line hose correct? If so I imagine its a "not tight enough" issue rather than an over tighten or am I missing something. I cant see inside of the port on the reservoir to see if theres something goin on inside there that I am missing.

The directions that came with the hose said not to over tighten it, I think it said only 20lbs, so I just went a touch past snug - definately could be a not tight enough issue or some other issue with my install.

Anyways, wife should be home soon hopefully i'll see exactly where its leaking, heres the picture in the mean time. Red arrow is the fitting im talking about that connects to the reservoir.

The white plastic washer was already on that end of the line, so yes I left it where it was... Is that wrong?
