We bought a 1965 F100 and need to register it but can't find a vin plate. The driver door was replaced so the Vin plate doesn't match the previous owners registation. We have looked in the glove box and under the hood and can't find a plate. Any idea where the Vin plate might be on a 1965 F100???
It is stamped in the top of the passenger side frame rail in 2 places, once about and just ahead of where the front axle crosses under, and again under the cab.
It is stamped with about 1/8" high characters, it can be hard to pull out sometimes but is there. Grease & dirt may be covering it.
A light and one of those flex head mirrors can be helpful.
Hey 1st & foremost "Welcome" aboard.
I've always found them roughly where John mention as well. usually right below the alternator on top of the frame rail.
I will also share this info with ya for once you find the vin number.
There's a guy in Colorada that repops warranty plates. (Alittle expensive) but the only catch is; he wants a photo of the existing tag. Here's his website; dataplt@bresnan.net
Maybe he can help ya once you figure out all your truck data ie, motor & trans code etc. But as I mention he expects a tag photo. also Ford Motor Company has given a buddy of mine data on this 77 F100 with only a vin number. That might help ya once you find the vin stamp. Yuo alos might find a "buck" tag along the fire wall or behind the tailight lenses; there's alittle data on them as well. (Not like a warranty tag) but possible color & interior info.
Hope this helps.
