75 f100 c4 auto lost reverse

75 f100 c4 auto lost reverse

I got a 1975 ford f100 I put it into reverse the other day and it started going then I heard a loud snap and it lost reverse....all other gears work fine... don't know whatsup....any help please?

My guess would be that the low/reverse band has broken. Maybe drop the pan and have a look.
Not an expert so just a first thought.
