another electrical issue thread

Hello to all I'm new to the superduty forum not new to the site as I also own an Excursion.

Now for the problem, I bought a 99' F250 a couple of weekends ago, when I purchased it the guy said that the wipers didn't work, the 4wd didn't work, power windows, and power door locks.

After reading through older threads I found one solution might be the GEM which I replaced and my power windows and wipers started working. The power door locks are trying to work now but I'll wait to tackle that job.

Also when I was driving the truck home I noticed I had a quick blinker on the right hand side so i changed out all my bulbs everything looked good except the front right hand marker light was burnt out. Now after I have changed out the GEM and my bulbs, the quick blinker changed to the left hand side I checked the bulbs and they are good.

I read that the wiring on top of the steering wheel might be worn, I checked that and it's all good. I changed out the multi function switch and the signal relay under the stereo. Still have a quick blinker, what should be my next step?

Truck is a 1999 F250 4x4 CC short box with a V10

Did you disconnect the battery for GEM swap?
If not, disconnect for a while, it might refresh ECM and all programmed components.
Good luck.

A bad ground could be causing the problem

Thanks for the response I did have it disconnected for two days and the battery on a charge for a day.

now for the UPDATE, someone tried to wire in a trailer harness and cut everything and left it exposed or their wiring job came apart, anyway I taped everything back up. Also there was a grey wiring harness that I noticed had broken snaps on the sides or what ever they are called that hold the two ends together I pulled the harness apart while my lights were on to see what would happen and my tail lights shut off. I shut my lights off, put it back together, taped it up, and checked to see what was working and dang my signals started working!!!!

Now I need to start looking for a rear harness or take it back apart and try soldering everything back together. Any advice?

Check for voltage before you work on wiring...use the right tool. Buy a cheapie 12v test light!
