I'm still wanting to do the D21/D20 swap on my NP435. I have read on here that you can get the D20s out of early broncos. I also read that the driveshafts have to be modified. So I have a few questions.
1. What yrs exactly does "early" broncos refer too?
2. When looking at the tags how would you ID a D20?
3. How would the drive shafts have to be modified? (shorten/lengthened, etc???)
1) Early Bronco's are 66-77
2) Not sure on tag
3) You need a 28 spline output shaft on your NP435 for it to work with a Dana20. You don't want the Dana21 as it's only four or two high, no low range.
