Part Number & Interchange Help Needed
I recently purchased a very nice 1979 F100. It has a 302 and C-4. Unfortunately it does NOT have power brakes. After doing some research, I've found no "kits" for this upgrade.
My research shows there is a serial number split for the power brake booster in '79. My VIN is F10GPFA4979 making it the later model version. From what I've seen this version does not have the firewall standoff brackets or fulcrum set up like the earlier model. It appears to bolt directly to the firewall? If so, can I buy a rebuilt booster assy and just bolt it between the firewall and master cylinder? Is the pedal arm different in this case? If the pedal arm is different, will one from any other year truck work?
If it's not this simple or if the parts prove too difficult to locate, can a complete booster, bracket, fulcrum and pedal set up off of the earlier '79 or even '78 and older truck be installed without serious modification?
Any input would be much appreciated.
