Rancho MyRide Shocks Settings for Excursion

I recently installed the Rancho shocks and steering stabilizer on my 2003 6.0L Excursion. I also installed the Rancho MyRide remote controller which lets me select different shock settings like highway, sport, work/haul/tow, offroad and custom. Each setting allows front and rear shocks to be pumped up between 1 and 9. I have found that with my Excursion (not towing), I get better suspension and steering with a number higher in the rear than in the front. Right now I'm using 7 front and 8 rear and seem to be getting okay results. I've experimented with the shock settings before and found that if I have the rear at around 4 and the front at 6, the rear end seems to ride sloppy and cause steering problems.

Are there any other Excursion owners using the adjustable Ranchos? What numbers are you using to get the best results?

Don't have the myride, but would suspect it just sets the shocks just as if you were turning the dials...

and so the settings are personal preference with 1 being the 'softest' and 9 being the firmest.... (IIRC)

YRMV, but I set mine on 1 all around to get the softest ride and pump up the tires to get the best mpg and tire wear....

Is it a little 'squishy' in some instances?
yes, but it sure rides nice in all other situations...

fyi, if I want a firm ride like when towing HEAVY (over 6k) , I can change it, but usually don't....

Okay, thanks. I was afraid that running the Ranchos at too low a setting would let the back end wallow too much and therefore throw the front end steering around. I'll go out today and play some more with the settings.

I haven't tried "1" all the way around yet. I'll give that a try and see what it's like.

BTW, I see from your signature that you have the Hellwig (I assume) rear anti sway bar. How do you like it? I think that's going to be my next upgrade if it's worth the money.

Sorry I don't have a signature line yet. I'm new on the forum and can't put one on until I have a minimum number of posts.

Re the hellwig rear sway bar...
I LOVED it on my 02 and 03 Ex's - made all the difference in the world...

but honestly, on the 05, I guess I had too great expectations and really didn't notice as much difference ????

Odd, I know....
but they were 3 diff trucks and maybe not installed properly this time ???
(or maybe I don't drive as much as an idiot as I used to )

I just have not followed up on it enough as the Ex handles fine for my uses as is....

Thanks for the words on the sway bar. I took the plunge today and ordered one through Amazon.com for $210 with free shipping. That's the best deal I could find on the internet. I'm looking forward to bolting it on and seeing how it works. BTW, how difficult was the sway bar installation? From the pictures of the parts, it looks pretty easy...which means there's probably something complicated I'm not expecting.

My ex has the hellwig with ranchos set to 6 and 10 plys at 60 psi, makes for a excellent ride on the highway but is slightly stiff around town. All in all it is a great combo for the truck IMHO.
