Transmission compatability?
Have a friend who has an '84 B II that has a bad trans. Have another friend who has an '86 that was rolled over. Both have the v-6 and automatic. Will the trans from the '86 fit the '84 as a direct swap with no modification or fabrication?

Not likely. The 84 has either a C3 or C5 tranny, the 86 has an a4ld. You need to find out if the 84's tranny is computer controlled and what length it is. THe a4ld has an overall lenght of 28.687". That's the best I can do for you. Good luck.
