4.6 2v or 4v
I'm going to replace the coil packs on my 02 merc 4.6, how do I tell if it's 2 valve or 4 valve? Nothing in my paperwork says.

I believe all Explorer and Mountaineer V8s are the 2V. I think the only 4V was the 4.6L V8 in the Lincoln Aviator.

Post a pic. If it's a 4 valve the valve covers are huge, they are almost twice as wide as the 2 valves.

2v, 4 v are DOHC, as per prior post, that would be the Aviator motor.

Thanks for the replies! I was thinking 2v when the window sticker says SOHC.
