Help with keyless entry

I just got an 03 Expedition EB pretty loaded. I got the door code from the owners manual and tried to use it to enter the door. The lights on the number pad light up but the keyless entry doent work. Its the factory key code so it should work. Any help would be great, thanks.

Was it hand written in the owners manual? I don't recall the actual code being in the manual. I think it is on a sticker somewhere under the dash.

Manual will tell you that it is written up high, on the computer box as I recall, on the right (passenger) side kick panel.

On my 04, it was a real BUGGER to find that number up their -- I had to sort of stand on my head with a flashlight.

Once you have that number, use the instructions in the owner manual to program a new code in (original stays active) that is easer for you to remember.

If you cannot find a 03-06 manual, I might be able to help if you are patient....

Try disconnecting the battery for a minute or two. I don't know that it will help but, it sure won't hurt.

Sometimes the buttons on the key pad start to go bad and do not always sense a "push"
The first button you push (first # in the code) may be sensed fine and turn on the lights, but it might miss one of the others.
You can test this by pushing a button to see if it lights up the key pad...wait for it to time out(turns the light off), and then test the next button.
If you find one that is bad or intermittent, you might be able to program a new code (use the procedure in the owners manual) that avoids the bad button #s. I have done this in the past by using a hard object (rounded end of a pen, etc) to push the bad button(s) and gotten it to sense the push.
