Hello to you all.

My 390 is smoking from the passenger side exhaust when at fast idle, when the gas is let off on the road and at no throttle down hills. It is also blowing smoke and hot air through the valve covers on both sides. Recently found the trans modulator was bad and sending trans fluid to the intake, fixed that and hope this hasn't hurt the rings or valve guides and seals.

I thought that because it smokes out of the exhaust only under specific situations that someone here might have words of wisdom for me.

Worn guide seals usually smoke on start up, idle, and deceleration when manifold vacuum is at its highest and oil gets pulled down the guides.

 

Thank you! I am hoping the seals were the culprits. I'll post the outcome of the new seals.

 

That's my best guess based on your description.

 

I replaced guide seals on one side to no avail. It must be an oil ring .
