perfect looking side emblems. I have '65 emblems on my '66. I'm pretending to be a '65 right now. I'm in the process of changing mine out. I have the correct emblems, but I still have to buy the twin-I-beam inserts. Isn't that a six cylinder hood emblem? I like the blackened trim. Great pictures.
The reason those side emblems look perfect is because they are new NOS Ford
As for the hood emblem I have no idea if it's a 6 cyl or 8 as Im not sure what is correct. But it was on the truck when I got it, so it went back on! lol
Depends on the year the truck was made as to what is correct. Here is the hood emblem on a 63 with a V8.
Next is a 65 with a V8
This is a 66 with a V8.
A 64 V8
Im pretty sure that the lightning bolt and gear was a standard hood emblem for 6 and 8 powered trucks up through 64. 65 and 66 got the V8 emblem but both will fit any hood 61-66. Some one either put a V8 in your truck or they put a different hood or hood emblem on your truck. Or they could of jacked up the hood emblem and drove a different truck under it.
Intersting to know guys! This truck will never be correct, so as long as it's all in good shape I don't mind if it's technically wrong. I prefer the lightning bolt to the v8 symbol.
Fourth digit of the VIN is an "A," that would indicate it was a factory 240 I-6 truck. That would explain the factory 6 emblem. So now the emblem is correct but not the engine lol.
That is a sharp truck!!!! Definitely jealous to see that your almost finished with things........I'm just getting started.
As far as the idea of what's correct or not on restorations, I believe that if you end up buying a base truck, why not make some improvment mods. Like superbean said,...."as long as it's in good shape". Now, if you start withna loaded version.....that would be the one I take back as close to original as you can get it with what is available. Those are the true colletors type cars. For the rest of us stab and lsahers out there, adding some "comforts" and horsepower make it a more exciting vehicle.....jmho

Just trying to educate with the pics and answer nothing more. I guess if a person wants to stay in the dark I guess thats a his or her own business.
It looks great...a couple of things...DEFINATELY REMOVE THE FENDERS WHEN HANGING THE DOORS!!! A fender is LOADS easier to adjust the a door plus with the fender off you will see more of the sealing area to adjust it properly.
Trim painting...you said you got NOS turn signal doors...and PAINTED THEM...I wish I woulda known as I got scads of them I woulda given you for the asking...
Back to the doors..getting the doors to close will be a challenge most likely initially...I hope you took lots of detail pics as the area up front around the cowl area is the biggest pain to get to sit right given all of its angles and turns and such.
Paint looks good...how many coats ??? any clear on it ??? lotsa color sanding I bet :-)

I dont think im going to take off the front clip again for the doors lol. I've worked at a body shop before so with a few friends help it shouldnt be bad. I drilled a tiny hole in the hinge so i can just stick a nail in the hing with the door in place and it will be within a 1/4 in.
The paint is Acrylic Enamel single stage, no base clear I just did one small trick to really make it pop
