While I am accelerating at what I would call about 1/4-1/2 throttle there seems to be some hesitation. If I give it just a little more gas it accelerates very smoothly through. There seems to be a point where it just isn't getting enough gas to accelerate smoothly. What would be the first thing to check on this? My Bronco is a 93 Custom with the E40d
I am trying to pull the codes and have a few questions. The page lists two methods. Which one should I use? Is one easier than the other? Also, the diagram shows the seperate little plug with an arrow going to one of the pins. Do those need to be connected or is that only for the KOEO test? Any extra help would be much appreciated.
Warm the engine up & fix any problems you can identify. Tune it according to the emissions sticker, then turn it off. Put a jumper wire (or paperclip) from the single wire connector to the top R terminal of the 6-position connector. Turn the key to RUN and observe the ENG (or EMISSIONS) light on the dash. Ignore the quick flash(es) that occur within 2 seconds of turning the key to RUN. Each code will flash out twice. Ignore the single flash separated by ~6 sec pauses before & after, then observe the second group of codes. After they're finished, turn the key off & back on and record the codes. (The first time was for practise, but if you got them all correctly written down, you don't have to do it the second time.) When you're sure you have all the codes recorded, trigger them to flash out one more time, and remove the jumper wire WHILE they're flashing out - this clears the codes from memory.
I cleared the codes and it is still flashing out what seems to be a 33 code twice when I do the test. Am I just reading it wrong or is this actually something I should look into? The check engine light is not on or anything. Thanks.
You're reading it wrong - that's "1-1-1" flashing out twice for the continuous codes, then again for KOEO. Code 111 is all clear. Test drive it for a day or so and pull them again to see if any problems reappear.
