i don't understand about the timing. I've replaced my pump before never even occured to me about any kind of timing, and I've never had any troubles with running or hauling. Ole betsie runs slick as a whistle.
Timing isn't a big deal to get the truck started. I've had a few different IP's on this engine and I've swapped them enough times to know that it will defeintly run fine no matter if the pump has the marks lined up or if the pump is about a dime's width advanced.
I don't even remember where my current pump is... I seem to think it's a dime's width advanced, but all the other pumps I just lined up the marks and called it good.
This is the first time I've had an issue with surging with the different IP and Injector combo's.
As an update, my truck is running like a raped ape...the thing is back to Rocket Status.
I'm 99% sure my problem was an air intrusion issue where I was sucking air on the supply line. It doesn't make much sense to me why the truck would stall... BUT, I did each fix one at a time to diagnose the issue and the surging immediately went away after by-passing the selector valve.
Otahyoni, air intrusion doesn't sound like your problem if the issue goes away after shutting the cold advance off. I'm still thinking about yours, and I'm coming up empty...
