800 mile rust....

New truck has 800 miles and I dropped it off at the dealer so they can fix it.
-Front grill has green fuzz growing on it and small bubbles underneath the chrome.
-Tow hooks are slathered in rust and getting a bit jagged to touch on the inside edge.
-Front bumper has rust running down beside the fog lights.
And I also needed something done with the tailgate as it hits the bedside on the right and the paint is coming off.
What's the deal with the cheap chrome? My 99' had no rust at all on the chrome. Ford quality seems to be sinking to new lows.

And as a side note, the mechanic that decided to do a brake inspection gouged one of the wheels. I have no idea how they will repair that.

Make them replace the wheel, they gouged three dually wheels on my dads truck and he had them replace all three. My dads 11 bumper is rusting as well, seems like a bad dip.

Was something spilled on the front of your truck, like battery acid?

i think ford is just getting cheap personally. my dads 2000 front bumper and grill were replaced twice with rusting, my 2004 bumper was replaced at a year old for rust and my brother 05 f-150 just had the bumper replaced with rust bubbles. my dads truck is fine now but my new bumper is getting tiny little dots like the chrome is starting to get thin? besides i read allot of post about rust problems with ford trucks on here lately, go figure

No battery acid was spilled on my truck. I think its just bad plating.
They have had it a day now and I haven't heard a thing yet so maybe they are going to replace the grill, bumper and tow hooks.
I am thinking of having the regular grill put on instead of this billet style that came with the truck.
Maybe this style is corrosion prone?

Well, they have had the truck over a week now so I thought I would pop in and see whats up.
Turns out my truck now has a lot more damage. Some idiot removed the tailgate and set in down on the floor to work on it. So now it is covered in dents and chips.
They still haven't figured out how to set the gap to clear the bedside.
Some other idiot decided to either clean his muddy boots on the front bumper and sidesteps or just track mud into my truck. So the plastic cap on the bumper is sctratched up and the stainless side steps have gouges.
Front bumper is hanging on one side or misaligned. One bolt is missing.
At least the truck had greasy handmarks on it.

So now they say they will pull a tailgate of a new 2011 which should fit my 2010? Or they may have to repaint the tailgate in and out. They haven't decided on the scratches in the bumper or sidestep yet.
This truck has 800 miles and not one scratch. But they treated it like an old work truck anyway. Pathetic.

No kidding. They are going to pull a tailgate off a new truck and as of yet I don't know what they are going to do about the other stuff.
I wonder what they say to a tech like this guy. Back when I worked as a mechanic you would be fired for somehting like this.
Maybe Ford is going to pay for the new tailgate?

Either them or the dealer but don't back down when they hand you the bill for stuff they broke.

Why would they pull a tailgate off of a new truck? I'd be pissed if I bought a brand new truck and the tailgate was not the original.

They ended up pulling a new tailgate and stainless side step off a new truck.
When I went to get the truck the tail gate was hitting the bedside, just as I brought it in 11 days ago. All this and the problem remained.
So the shop foreman, who just heard about this, took the truck to the body shop. The body guys had it fixed in a few minutes.
So they wasted all this time and expense for nothing. It should have went to the body guys to begin with.
They forgot about the rusty front bumper and I'm to tired to complain or care at this point. Just have to live with it.
And the wheel they scratched was replaced. But the guy installing it must have slipped with the impact and left a nasty gouge on one of the spokes. What a waste of a new wheel.
I aligned the front bumper myself when I brought it home.
