For the past few months I have been having a problem with my fuel getting to a quarter tank. The truck runs great until I get to a quarter then starts to chug like its running out of fuel. It also has shut off before due to the same problem, then fires up with more fuel.
I have replaced my filters every 15 thousand and ran a couple bottle of diesel kleen but still have the issue. Also I drain the filers housing often and make sure I get fuel from busy stations.
I know its not great to run the tank low but sometimes it happens. Any advice would be greatly appreciative.
Thank.
It's either the sending unit OR the pickup in the tank. The pickup has a rubber flapper valve on the side that can sometimes open/fail and cause this problem.
Im having a similar problem and today I noticed that when it doesn't start, I also do not hear the fuel pump before hitting the ignition to start. I took it to ford a couple of weeks ago and they couldn't get it to fail. Intermittent problems are tough. Ill go back with this small tidbit of info.
With all of the electronics on this machine I would expect a trouble code. None given.
