Fired it off this morning, squirt of fuel wife turned the key and bang it was running, oil pressure at idle was 80 psi using 10w-30w Royal Purple break in oil after 30 min cam break in was still showing 70 psi at idle on both oil psi gauges, what is a good fast idle speed and low idle speed? I have a Mallory distributor with no vacuum advance on it, I have timing set at 10deg BTDC, I don't have a manual thats why i'm asking,,, thanks

Well I have a problem, seems that when ever the temp reaches 180 deg the motor shuts off as if you just turn the key off let it sit for a hour and it fires back up.

+1 ON VAPOR LOCK check your fuel line route it's probably close to an exhaust manifold somewhere .

I'm at work discussing it with an old timer here who is a excellent mech, after I got the brilliant Idea of adding a filter between the tank selector and the pump he informed me that was a bad idea that those canister filters are not designed to be sucked thru so I'll remove the first filter and try again

i made the mistake one time of putting my inflow fuel line on my fuel pump with it in my hand then installed the pump..... it idled fine..... but after driving a few miles it would cut off like it had no gas.... i was stumped..... after parking the truck for 2 weeks thinking about it and considering removing fuel tank to clean it i had a friend give her some gas wihile i watched my glass filter.... long story short my fuel line was twisted just enough that it would sit and idle fine but when put in gear and driven it would suck closed tighter than fort knox... so it could be the simplest of things giving you grief

Removed the filter between the selector valve and the pump,,, no problems so far
