Explorer roolevers?
How prone are Explores to rollovers? I've heard a lot about them a few years ago with the Firestone thing. Was the rollovers more related to that?
I understand that they have a higher center of gravity than a car, so I can't corner as fast (common sence). Plus all SUV's have a higher center of gravity.
I think the rollovers just happen to be more driver error than the design of the truck, or is there really and issue with Explorers?
I'm just wondering, as I've only owned a Ford for about 2 weeks now.
Thanks
Despite what many will say, the Explorer is a rather safe vehicle. Yes, it will rollover - if you try to drive it like a BMW or any other sports car. There are ways to improve the suspension greatly to give it more of a sports car feel, and really have some fun with one.
I bought mine in Oct. '96, and have over 151,000 miles, and have yet to feel 'unsafe' in it. I have had 2 tires to blow - one going down the interstate to Florida, and one on a 2 lane back country road. I was in excess of 50mph both times, and neither time did the X swing or become uncontrollable.
I have done some mods to mine (just a few
), so some of that is attributed to them , but overall I would recommend an X to anyone that I trust behind the wheel...
and I put it in the ditch on a bad snow it should of flip but the same thing it didn't but me and my wife prety experienced drivers we both had lifted trucks and sports cars and even little ricers so we know the differnce between the handling ability's
