94 Ranger, 4.0L, 5-speed, short bed, regular cab. Had the bed off the other day to inspect fuel pump and noticed what appeared to be an ABS or wheel speed sensor just above the rear diff... is this correct? Is that what it is?

Thanks.
on your year ranger I believe that is the abs sensor for rabs? on the 98 99 and 2000 it is also the speed sensor
My ABS dash light and Brake light have been on for a while now so I'm just wondering if replacing that sensor might fix that. ??
yes it could be the issue and it is a cheap easy fix.....1 bolt..lube the oring and install. I also would check the abs fuses. do you have rabs=rear antilock brakes
Not sure about rabs, but I don't think so. In any case, as you said, it's worth replacing just to see if it fixes the problem. Would be a cheap fix if so.
The speed-o, cruise control, tranny & rear anti-lock brakes all use the PID output from the rear differential mounted speed sensor, so if any of the other things are acting out, the rear speed sensor belongs high up on the suspect list. It's a common problem part.
If you don't have any other symptoms, look in the "Tech Info" thread atop this forums thread listing page & scroll down to find a link on how to use a jumper to read/pull your ABS trouble code, or take it to a brake shop & they'll likely have a scantool that can read Ford ABS trouble codes, but you might have to pony up a few bucks for them to do it.
More thoughts for consideration, let us know what you find.
